Airports

Efficient guiding in airports results in improved customer satisfaction, costs savings, higher passenger flowrates and improved retail revenues.

The MILS® system is a system for dynamically detecting and guiding people, whether during an emergency or during normal business. The system is based around the MILS software, which is programmed with various scenarios which might be for a certain evacuation plan or a business need. The actual guiding is implemented by very low power dynamic LED stripes which are typically mounted in the floor or at low level on the wall, and sign panels. The stripes and panels are designed to be installed in such away as to enhance the appearance of a modern building or to be hidden away in sensitive listed buildings. Detecting is done by using our unique ELSI underfloor laminate which is hidden away under your floor, and detects where people are, how many people are in an area and in which direction they are moving. MILS works on the ‘plan, detect, act´ principle and enhances your buildings facilities and processes.

Guiding People

  • Guide people through security control, reducing queuing and getting people to flights on time and into retail outlets for longer.
  • Inform people arriving on the aircraft to follow a certain colouredstripe, for example follow the blue stripe to the baggage hall, thegreen stripe to passport control, yellow to transfer area etcreducing the chances of people getting lost.
  • Manage queues automatically at check in, customs, border control and security control
  • Link the stripes to final calls, enabling flights to leave on time
  • Making darker areas safer for people towalk in
  • Making people aware of dangerous and no-go areas

Evacuating People

  • By getting real time information from the fire detection system asto where the fire is, and efficiently evacuating people out of the building via the safest exit according to the appropriate preprogrammed scenario.
  • The MILS system can handle other emergencies such as flooding and hijacking, and can evacuate people via different routes or in phased groups.
